If it was me, I'd carefully check the engine cam chain tensioner assembly, seems like that is what finally failed on one that was very high mileage. I know it is a problem on Honda thumpers as it gets shock loaded more than a parallel twin or four. Thanks for sharing with us anything you find.Max
